A PASSION FOR PRINKIN'
My daughter had the best idea for a table sign at my grandson's birthday party. A computer drawn pattern was cut from sugar paper so that we could use the supplies we had on hand. The colors were vibrant and it was so appropriate.

I like to dress things up. Always have. I like taking something and making it into something else. Photos into graphics, for instance. I love how a picture that might stand alone, also makes a divine back drop for something else. The definition of "Prink" is to dress for show, preen. And my own thinking about "ink", in spite of its popular lean toward tatoos, is anything that can be printed, drawn, painted or colored, even if it's digital. In these galleries, I present a glimmer of my passion for Prinkin".

There are textures everywhere. Reducing a picture to the textured surface alone makes a super background. Prinking that texture with color or filters often makes the print stand out.
A miriad of combinations, makes this background versatile and quick. In this case it is also vintage.This is au natural, but colorizes well to earthy, warm tones.

An element of life that has a high priority in many families is faith. Scripture based backgrounds in natural colors, present an opportunity to include pictures of all the many things we do because of our faith. One of my favorite styles of creating background pattern is with words. The repetition of words in certain patterns gives a foundation for subject, theme, or testimony without titling it. These few pages are examples of subtle ways to include one's faith while scrapbooking
A prinked series for scrapbooking focused on faith.
Lighter brighter, soft old classic, modern. Has a slightly more masculine feel, making space for softer picture tones to stand out. Great for slightly blurred pics, titles and journalling so they won't get lost in the background. Lighten this even more to make it almost a whisper on the page, which anchors the page elements cleanly. Just barely visible? Isn't that what faith is all about?

Words as a theme, or to provide the texture for a background is a favorite of mine. Many of the peices of art, cards and Photo backgrounds will include a form of this on this site. Below, the slider has a work, HOPE MERCY GRACE & LOVE, which is framable, but you will also find backgrounds like the 12x12 scrapbook pages , and on the photo pages, frames made from printed words. What a great way to put language from a child, or say what you are feeling on a scrapbook page! So many words that just say it all, and what an easy way to use them.
